About the society
The Society was founded in 1981 to provide the Newbury and West Berkshire area of the UK with a focal point for all those interested in astronomy, regardless of age, experience or expertise.
The Society holds regular speaker and beginners meetings from September to June and your annual subscription covers entry to all meetings. If you are not a member, but would like to come along to any meeting you will be most welcome at any meeting. (a nominal charge is made for non-members)
Our Vice President is the celebrated historian Dr. Allan Chapman who for many years used to entertain members with a lecture at our Christmas Dinner.
The Society is a member of the Federation of Astronomical Societies and a registered charity.
